Manual Therapy

Manual therapy is a hands-on approach used by physiotherapists to treat acute or chronic musculoskeletal injuries. This involves moving of muscles and joints to help improve function throughout the entire body. A physiotherapist will massage fascia and muscles, provide mobilizations and glides to joints to relieve pain and promote healing. Manual therapy helps the body to heal in the correct way.

Therapeutic Taping

Therapeutic taping can help to support joints and facilitate the correct action. There are several different types of tape that can be used for various types of injuries. Often athletes rely on taping to help decrease pain, risk of injury, and to help improve performance. Different types of tapes are used in different application styles to produce the best results. For example: Kinesiotape is not created to support joints, its best used to facilitate muscle contraction and lymphatic return! Whereas a zinc oxide tape can be used to prevent injury in an ankle by creating additional support. Step Forward Physiotherapy can use therapeutic taping to help you achieve your performance and recovery goals!
